Eight-Day Silent Meditation Retreat in France

We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.
  • August 5, 2016 - August 12, 2016
    1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Le Moulin de Chaves is a centuries-old mill, at the curve of a lazy river in the rural French town of Cubjac. The mill was once a Zen centre and is now a retreat centre where we practice in silence for 8 days.

Join us for a silent meditation retreat integrating the techniques of Vipassana with the schedule and basic forms of Zen.

The daily routine is made up of sitting, walking, working, and using Buddhist practices to be awake. In the evening, as the birds go quiet and the gentle wind picks up in the bamboo grove, Michael meets with participants, one-on-one to explore their practice, life, meditation technique, and whatever else is coming up on retreat.

This retreat, taught in English, is organized to support new students in establishing a meditation practice and experienced meditators in dropping deeper into their practice. Meals are vegetarian and gluten-free, there is daily movement/yoga practice, afternoon dharma talks, and opportunities for one-on-one meetings with Michael. Limited to 55 students.

As we strive to be an open and inclusive community, accepting and supporting diversity in age, race, physical and mental abilities, as well as sexual orientation and gender identity* we welcome requests regarding accommodation.

*Our sangha is inclusive of trans and gender nonconforming people. We recognize that gender is not dependent on how someone looks and can be something other than male or female. One’s gender is often inferred by the pronoun used as reference (he/she/they). We encourage mindfulness around pronouns.

$450 (approx. €320)

On retreat, as our minds and bodies settle and open, the natural world begins to open up as well. Camping is a great way to be on retreat. It also reduces the costs slightly if that is a concern. Please consider bringing a tent and sleeping bag and taking the camping option.
