Breathing the Body into Stillness
- May 26, 2017 - May 28, 2017
9:30 am - 4:30 pm
Join us for three focused days incorporating meditation, yoga practice, and study in the joyful company of community.
This very body is Buddha – Zen Master Hakuin
Each day will begin with yoga asana, breathing exercises, and traditional savasana meditations blending detailed physical alignment with practices to help you calm the mind. Michael uses a holistic approach to postures that balances strength, flexibility, new ranges of movement, and stillness. Learn how to use the breath during movement sequences in ways that turn familiar postures into opportunities for meditation and develop simple corrective techniques to improve habitual movement patterns.
In the afternoons, Michael will unpack traditional Zen Buddhist teachings through lecture and discussion. You will learn to settle your mind, find space in your breathing, and establish a meditation practice. This 3-day intensive is a great opportunity to develop techniques to heal the heart and inspire a renewed commitment to being awake.
